この寺院内で被爆しました。原子爆弾によって地上部は消失しましたが、後に目を吹き返し、現在では株分けして数か所に植えられています。

This peony bush survived the bombing inside the temple grounds. While the aboveground portion was lost in the bombing, new shoots began to grow, and now there are several peony bushes in the area which all stem from this one.
Note: Temple grounds are a sacred place; be sure to be respectful of those going to worship. There may be times when you will not be allowed inside the grounds.

本經寺（ほんきょうじ）のタブノキは、原爆によって上の部分が焼けて根株だけが残り、根元から新しい芽を吹いて再生しました。ここ数年、株立ちの幹にはキノコが発生して危機的な状態です。健康な幹から新たな根を発生させて、敷地内の別な場所に植える計画があります。

The top half of the tabunoki at Honkyō-ji Temple was burned in the bombing, leaving only its underground roots; from these, a new tree grew. In recent years, the tree has been rather unhealthy, and mushrooms have started to grow on some of the trunks. Plans are in the works to grow new roots from the healthy trunk and replant them in a different part of the temple complex.
