広島駅の北側。かつてこの一帯には東練兵場（ひがしれんぺいじょう）があり、その北西の角でクスノキは生き残りました。今は、「二葉の里歴史の散歩道」の小さな公園に立っています。原爆投下後は、爆心地方面から多くの人が避難して来た場所でもあり、被災者の救護所となっていました。また、背後にある広島東照宮（とうしょうぐう）にも、被災者が身を寄せていました。東照宮の参道沿いで、春になると満開の花を咲かせていたサクラも、原爆によって焼けてしまいました。このサクラ並木を復活させようと有志が集まり、被爆サクラの苗を育てて、広島駅へと続く道に植えられています。
North of Hiroshima Station used to home to the Eastern Training Grounds and this camphor tree survived the bombing in the northwest corner of these grounds. Today, the grounds have become the Futaba-no-Sato Historical Walking Path, a small park. Many of the victims of the bombing came to this area, fleeing from the direction of the hypocenter, and it became a temporary relief station. Many victims also fled to Tōshōgu Temple, directly behind the grounds. The cherry blossom trees that bloomed each spring along the path to Tōshōgu Temple were all burned in the bombing. Volunteers gathered to replant this row of trees, and seeds from cherry blossom trees that survived the bombing were planted. The saplings were then planted along the road to Hiroshima Station.
